Before heading to Essaouira, we needed to stop in Marrakesh once more to return Synke’s rental bike. We arrived in the evening and were quickly annoyed with all the turmoil going on in the streets and on the square. Since the bike shop wasn’t open at this time we had to spend a night at a hotel and opted for the same hotel as last time, Hotel Africqua, since it was in a good location, looked pretty clean and didn’t cost much. Sahara Desert

To get to the sand dunes of the Sahara desert we had to go by bus for four hours. It was a much older bus than the other ones we had previously taken and our bikes had to be lifted to the top. Right after we departed, one of the bus operators, who looked like a short version of George Clooney, walked through the aisle and picked up all the trash he could find and threw it out the window.
